Whangape Spat Farm

This project for the Muriwhenua Spat Company Limited had been under discussion since 2018.

In February 2025 with a contract signed, OCEL was engaged to provide the certified installation drawings for the anchoring system. Once the anchors were made, we then had to wait for a suitable weather window. It was a 36-hour steam up to Whangape, three to four days on site and then a 36-hour steam back home. Entering the Whangape Harbour had to be planned carefully to be able to get safely get in and out. Soul Commitment sailed from Havelock 0100 1st July returning at 0800 on the 9th July. 

The carefully planning made this project a great success and we congratulate Chum and Erana Murray on what they have achieved so far. We wish them great success with the spat farm.
